Easter comes sweeping out of our distant past!
It comes from those distant days when a magnificent soul
walked on the soil of a place called Judea.
The touch of his steps made the landscape sacred.
Oh what vision He had,
what compassion was in His heart,
what love he shared across those rolling hills.
The people listened, and the lessons they heard
penetrated their needy hearts, awakened their faith.
But Oh the pain He embraced when wicked leaders slew Him.
And all across the land there were broken hearts,
those with compassion who heard Him gladly, and loved Him.
They were helpless against the storm of wickedness
in high places;
Jesus died on the cross!
But how wonderful the news after three days!
He is risen, the Lord is risen indeed!
That is the message of Easter: He is risen!
For you and me, Jesus is our risen Saviour!
He has given us deep meaningful Life on earth!
He has promised us eternal Life!
Let this Easter be a celebration of Life.
Let it be a new awareness of the wonder, of the glory,
Of God given Eternal Life!
