An Act of Faith

It was an act of faith in God

When he planted the seed in the little can,

For his mother gave him a simple nod,

And said “Go to it little man”.

The soil was rich and the seed grew slow,

But the boy went to work in an earnest way,

For he knew that the water would help it grow

And “Just wait, Mother” was all he’d say.

Warm was the sun and the air was clean;,

And the little seed sprouted and quickly grew.

The stem grew rife, ‘twas tall and green

With leaves and a little pod, all new.

He had trusted the father he knew would help,

With sun and water to feed the sod,

A boy with a happy heart and a smile,

And a bunch of love for a seed and a clod.
