Change

What a world! What a life!

Where “change” is always in the air.

Sometimes good, sometimes bad

Or neither, when it just is there.

Think about it for a while,

Consider what it does as all around

Change is always everywhere.

One day we’re well and active,

Feeling good and on the go.

The next, we get bad news.

Cancer, in me, anywhere in me,

My world comes crashing down.

Or could it be news of someone else?

Family, relatives or friends,

folks we care about.

Somebody, anybody, has cancer,

Or aids, or any new war on health.

One short message–

we plunge from high to low,

so very, very low!

Another day breaks forth–

we hear the news–

a new good job, new hope,

new friends, a sunny day!

Or simple things that money buys,

new clothes, a car, a house,

a thousand things that can bring joy.

Or gifts beyond the scope of coins,

where hearts are warmed anew.

With television news from

all across the world,

the chance of hearing change is real.

It can be good,  or very good.

It can be bad, or really bad!

Giant storms, wind and waves,

destroying homes or countrysides.

So many ways that nature’s wrath unfolds.

Or war, the ultimate of violence,

Out of control across the earth.

Each morn we rise to greet the hours,

To learn of change, both good and bad.

We have to live with change!

And so we take it in,

And live each day the best we can!
