The other day while pondering
how I might find a friend,
I found myself considering
“What message should I send?”
Do I just list my wishes
for someone to be with?
Or should I be deciding
to change my name to Smith?
For then it would be simple
to advertize for friends.
Then hours could be refreshing
with pleasant chats to spend.
Or maybe what I want now
is help along the way,
someone to join in labor,
assistance through my day.
But someone shared a story,
there’s more to life than rhyme.
Go looking now for someone
with whom to share your time,
to find a deeper meaning
with values that endure.
Then you can cherish fellowship
with love that is for sure!
For friendship has top meaning
when virtues can endure,
and bonds within, are lasting.
Now that is friendship pure!
Based on each comrades purpose,
to build a lasting bond,
as two become almost as one,
with values they respond.
