The clouds hung heavy in November sky,
The cool breeze impressed the chill,
The time of day brought peaceful quiet calm.
I waited, given time to pray.
A year had passed, and now I knew
I must reach out again,
As years before I sat alone
Pondering my loss, my pain.
The stone, so bold, so strong,
That time could not erase.
It spoke of long years unknown,
Stretching far out into beyond.
My task was good, to reach for her,
To hold her in my thoughts,
Embrace her love, and know
That we were still as one.
And there she was, waiting in quiet joy.
Holding me in her heart, her love,
We spoke, with new exchange,
To learn the other’s life and ways.
We learned the other’s thoughts and plans,
The moments passed, special in every way,
To know about the other, for each day,
Recorded in our hearts all that we desired.
The peaceful scene enveloped all we learned,
Who longed to meet again,
And held us close, as two
One day, when God approved,
Was o’er. And I must go.
So now the close, the special day
That held our love confirmed.
We both were thankful for the time,
Until we meet again,
Before we sleep tonight,
Thankful for our special day,
Our special day apart!
