I Held Her Hand

I held her hand as she sat weeping.

She knew not  why.

I held her hand and pondered

Some message from on high.

What does the future hold, where are we going?

We are not to know just now, but only praying.

Dear Father keep us in our hours of pain.

Show us how to trust  You, and not pray in vain.

Let tomorrow show the sunrise in our hearts, and peace.

Bring us hours of pleasure, again, and new release.

From all this sorrow, from times unknown,

To new bright peace and trusting, to joy fullblown.

Because we are your children, because we know You care,

And we will walk together, unafraid, without despair.
