I saw boats resting on the silent sea,
Awaiting cargo, bound to distant lands.
Tall sails stetched upwards, features undefined.
The rippling wavelets murmured gurgling tunes.
Had sails been people, held in distant view,
They would have moved, in many restless ways.
The silent boats portrayed a sense of peace,
Now lingering as they float on silent sea.
Tall sails, like feathers in a hat,
Stood out as shadows at the water’s edge.
The boats revealed a scene of dreamy calm,
A seascape rich with soft and quiet art.
My hand reached out to hold the shadowed light,
To grasp a moment soon to fade and melt away.
Alone I watched as twilight cast its spell
And held me till the night had come.
