Eternity in Poetry

If I can think of lawns so richly green

And fog that quickly parts so I can see,

If I can see Him there with arms outstretched,

What can God plan for me?

If I can see a room where all are nice,

As welcomes come from every side,

Refreshments too, to bring us all some joy,

What can God plan for me?

If I now see a prophet old  appear

And share so many  things we need to know

About a Heaven which we have never seen,

What can God plan for me?

If I can rest in my own room at eve

And feel at home in this, a strange new land

And dine with thousands, all as new as I,

What can God plan for me?

If I can know landscapes in bright array

See houses made from dreams akin to mine,

And hear a concert of  the hymns I love,

What can God plan for me?

When I am led to see the Saviour near,

To stand in reverence and to hear God speak,

As in His presence thousands wait in awe,

What can God plan for me?

If God can keep  my spirit  all alive,

My body lying deep within the grave,

As I anticipate the joys of heaven,

What can God plan for me?

I rest my case, I trust my loving God,

All knowing, caring, when my time arrives,

He takes me to a place I’ll love.

That God has planned for me.
